How it Works!
The FatBoy! Cargo Rack is made up of 2 basic parts, the Base and the Saddle(s). The Base is mounted to the vehicles cargo floor. The Saddle(s) is mounted to the Base, the Saddle(s) holds the front or rear tire of the Bicycle(s) or Motorcycle(s), thus mounting the Bicycle(s) or Motorcycle(s) to the vehicle.
The Base has T-Slots that are separated from each other front to back and run the length of the Base. This allows the Bicycles or Motorcycles to be positioned any where along its length. The Base comes in 2 lengths, 35" and 47" which will accommodate small, mid-size and large pickup trucks. The 35" Base will hold up to 3 bikes or 2 Motorcycles or a combination thereof and the 47" Base will hold up to 4 Bicycles or 3 Motorcycles or a combination thereof. All kits may be upgraded to carry additional bikes with the exception of Rack 4.
The Saddles are made up of 2 L-Shaped Post that have T-Bolts installed on them and are installed into the Base's T-Slots. The Saddles may be positioned anywhere along the length of the Base and may be staggered front-to-back. The Saddles may be adjusted for any tire width from 0 inches to 3 inches and 3 inches to 6 inches. Wider tires may be accommodated with an inexpensive upgrade that you may purchase at any local hardware store or from us. The Saddles will hold a tire up to 31 inches in diameter. There is a Quick Release installed near the top of the Saddles that is adjustable and when engaged clamps down on the tire thereby holding the Bicycle(s) or Motorcycle(s) in place. When disengaged the Bicycle(s) or Motorcycle(s) roll out easily and you are ready to ride. No Wheel Removal Required!! No Tools Required!
Installation: The base is mounted to the cargo floor of the vehicle by drilling 2 each 5/16” holes and installing hardware package provided.
Transportability of any Bicycle regardless of geometry, suspension or brake system. The FatBoy! Cargo Rack also transports almost all Motorcycles with very few exceptions* The FatBoy! Cargo Rack may be installed in any pickup truck, cargo van and trailers.
Operating the FatBoy! Cargo Rack could not be easier! Simply adjust the Saddles to approximately the width of the tire, adjust the Quick Release and engage. That's it!! Once you have initially adjusted the Saddles for the tire width, you simply roll the Bicycle(s) or Motorcycle(s) in or out, engage or disengage the Quick Release from then on. It could not be easier!!!!!
Materials utilized on the FatBoy! Cargo Rack are of the Highest Quality! The Saddles and Base are made of 6063-T6 Aluminum 1/8 inch wall thickness. The Hardware is Stainless Steel and Vibration Proof.
No Tools Required for Any Adjustment!! Common hand tools and a drill are required only when initially installing, thereafter tools are not required for any adjustment!
